RIP Ennio Morricone, 91, New Undomondo Discover Weekly etc.
Hi everyone,
Although I've always been partial to Maestro Piero Umiliani, Ennio Morricone was the definitive Maestro di Maestri and unsurprisingly the gateway drug to my (and probably everyone's) interest in Italian Original Soundtracks. There's a lot of well-known pieces, but this one on 67's Ad Agni Costo -- - whose title track perhaps was the first Morricone tune I've listened to when I was a kid, unknowingly-- is my favourite.
Funny story, the first time I heard the Morricone name was in 2001 on a song called "Morricone Dancehall" by the defunct indie/emo band Burning Airlines. Although totally unrelated musically, I still love this song, and I think it deserves the name of Morricone in it's title..
RIP Maestro Morricone!
